You’re invited to participate in a golf tournament on Saturday, May 9th benefiting a Roanoke Soccer League player Will Krause and his family. The tournament will be held at Ole Monty with a shotgun start at 8:00 am. The event is hosted by Roanoke Star Soccer Club and the cost is $80.00 per person. The cost includes door prizes, lunch and beverages after the round. For all the soccer players out there, the fee also includes a round of footgolf after lunch!
If you are interested in playing, please contact Dylan Henderson by email at dch908 at vt.edu by next Friday, 4/24/15.
Will and his wife are expecting a baby boy that is suffering from a condition known as Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. It is a condition where a hole in the diaphragm of the fetus develops, allowing abdominal organs to move into the chest cavity, preventing the lungs from developing normally. Due to the condition of the fetus, Will’s wife Stephanie will have to move to Philadelphia to be attended to by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) weeks prior to birth for monitoring and care. Immediately after birth, their son will undergo a procedure to correct the condition followed by a yet to be determined period of close monitoring and treatment by the team at CHOP.
This purpose of the tournament is to help raise funds to assist Will and his family in covering the medical expenses, and room/board costs involved in the family moving to Philadelphia before, during and after baby Will is born.
If you are unable to make the tournament but would like to donate to the cause, please see the link to both the tournament page and the gofundme page below. Beyond competing in the tournament, there are opportunities for hole, driving range and cart sponsorship if anyone out there would like to donate in that fashion. These can be found on the tournament page.
